RE:  1903 PER CAPITA DISTRIBUTION PAYMENT 

Enclosed is a Release Agreement for your information, as part of the Roseau River Anishinabe First Nation 1903 Treaty Land Settlement, signed February 8, 2011.   

Please read this Agreement carefully and, if you agree to what is stated, sign the Agreement and enclose a copy of your Treaty Status Card that states your Treaty Registration number and mail to our office as soon as possible.  Your Treaty Status Card number must be a Certified True Copy and signed by a Notary Public or a Certified Commissioner of Oaths.   

Due to financial purposes, only original signed Release Agreements will be accepted in order to receive your $5000 per capita payment. 

Per capita distribution payments to minors are being held in trust with the Bank of Montreal, 335 Main Street, Winnipeg, MB, Canada, (204-985-2510) until the child reaches 18 years of age, $5000 initial payment and interest accumulated to 18 years of age.

How to process your Per-capita Disbursement Cheque.

1) Deposit your cheque at your current Financial Institution. (Recommended
2) Cash your cheque at your current Financial Institution
3) Deposit your cheque into your Bank of Montreal Account
  *No Hold will be put on the Per-capita Disbursement cheque*
4) Replace Cheque with a Bank Draft to take to your Financial Institution at no cost to you.
5) Open a bank account with the Bank of Montreal
*No Hold will be put on the Per-capita Disbursement cheque*
a. Identification required to open a bank account, 2 of the following;
i. Indian Treaty Card
ii. Social Insurance Number
iii. Birth Certificate
iv. Drivers Licence
v. Valid Canadian Passport.
6) Cash Cheque at the Bank of Montreal branches in the City of Winnipeg.*
In order to cash your cheque, the Bank is required under the Anti Money
Laundering Legislation to record your identification, Indian Treaty Card, and also your address and date of birth on the back of the cheque.
*Cheques will be cashed subject to cash availability.

Roseau River is an Anishinabe Nation community located in Anishinabe territory, also known as Treaty 1 territory. This area is also now known as southern Manitoba, just north of the United States-Canada border.

Roseau River 2A, the main reserve, is at the junction of the Red and Roseau Rivers, with another portion, Roseau River 2A (Roseau Rapids), located on the escarpment 20 miles east of the main reserve. The main reserve includes excellent farmland, surrounded by dense foliage and trees, while Roseau Rapids has pasturelands and some natural resources such as gravel and sand. Each has a river running through it.

The Roseau River Anishinabe Nation is an Ojibway-speaking people of the Anishinabe Nation.
